Under Indiana Code 36-5-2-9, the powers granted to the Town Council are the ability to:
Adopt and use a common seal
Adopt ordinances and resolutions for the performance functions of the Town
Purchase, hold, and convey any interest in property for the use of the Town
Under IC 36-5-2-11, the Town Council may issue bonds to procure money to exercise the Town's powers and pay Town debts. However, the Town may not issue bonds to procure money to pay current expenses.
Under IC 36-5-3-4, the Town Council adopts an annual budget.
