CHERYL LONE for County Council

why did you want to run for this office?

I have been a service provider my entire career and would like to continue this in a new venue. I have witnessed concerns facing youth as well as families and believe that healthy families are a reflection of a healthy community. County government plays a large part in the overall health of the community and I feel I can add a positive aspect to the decisions being made.

What strengths can you bring to this job?

As a retired teacher, school counselor, previous administrator of a 3.9 million dollar federal grant and a lifelong educator including 4-H and youth development my career experiences are a basis for building a strong community . I'm interested in listening to many people's opinions and trying to do what's best for the community at large.

What changes would you like our county to make?

Accountability and transparency are two things that I feel are very important and can be enhanced to allow the community as a whole to be involved and informed as changes and decisions are made. Making decisions that benefit the community while enhancing the positive.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I have a bachelor's degree and two master's degrees. I've been married to my husband for over 45 years we have two sons as well as a stepdaughter. I moved to this community in the early '70s and have watched it grow, sometimes painfully sometimes in a very positive way. I hope to help the momentum move in a positive direction for community sustainability.
